Pre-Production (Production Diary/Schedule); PV LO2.1

Learning Objective 2
Production Diary/Schedule.
2.1 Complete pre-production planning for promotional video working to a standard acceptable to an employer or client.

15th March 2013- Pitch for our promotional videos and radio advertisements demonstrating our basic ideas. During this process we found that we was maybe heading more down the documentary route rather than promotional video, so therefore we knew that we had some work to do on our original ideas. Also we discovered that our company choice and theme was strong and that we were heading in the right direction.

27th March 2013- First client meeting to discuss the brief and create an initial plan. After pitching our ideas we went to the client and explained our ideas and wanted to know their opinion so that we could incorporate anything that was required by the client and to see if they had any fresh ideas for us to work with.

2nd April 2013- Filming of rehearsals. During the filming of the rehearsals we found that we had many opportunities to get a wide range of angles and shots due to the length of filming time that we had. Also in the client filmed the children’s dance lessons earlier in the day so this gave us the chance to look over the footage and to work out exactly what we needed to film during the rehearsal.

3rd May 2013- Client arranged a meeting to discuss further development with the promotional video and to organise future filming dates. Throughout this meeting we spoke about the footage that we already had and discussed with the client what footage they would like us to include with the promotional package.

5th May 2013- Meeting with client to discuss finalising the idea for the promotional video and gathering any archival footage and additional information for the production. We then gathered together all the archival footage from the client and finalised any queries that they might have.

9th May 2013- Editing of any archival footage and scripting of the radio advertisements. We sat and went through all the archival footage and filtered through it all taking into consideration what the client required and what would be visually pleasing for our promotional package.

10th May 2013- Design of DVD cover and DVD menu as well as editing footage. We planned to design our DVD cover and DVD menu however we had a hours and hours of archival footage to work through that this was removed from the process as we was posting the video online and if the client required a DVD copy that we would then in the future create whatever they required for this.

17th May - 6th June 2013- Editing footage. As well as continuing with the paperwork. We have started to piece together all the footage and work out the format and flow of the promotional video, as well as organising all the paperwork that is required for the client. During this period of time we had a lot of colour correction and de-lacing of the footage as the client wanted o to use manly archival footage throughout the piece therefore we had to make this look as strong as possible. We also had to select music that was going to flow well with the footage that already had music that the client wanted to include into the promotional video.

7th June 2013- We showed the client the finished promotional video and they were pleased with the outcome and would use us the future if they required any other filming for their company.
